  TESTIMONIALS
"...This is an excellent program. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to this when researching for task management programs. Very low learning curv, quite flexible, and the price is right. Tried at least 20 other programs, either too complicated, too expensive, or poor documentation..."

After Wedding Checklist

All Travel Checklists

After Wedding Checklist Wedding planning does not end with the vows. There are "after wedding" activities that you need to plan and organize in advance in order to ensure your celebration will be best. Read this After Wedding Checklist to find out what things you should take care of after your wedding party is over.

  1. Celebration.
    • Attire. First of all, you need to take care of the bridal gown and tuxedo – ask a trusted person (your friend or relative) to return your bridal attire to the rental store. If you own the bridal gown or/and tuxedo, ask someone to have it cleaned and returned to you after your honeymoon. Also you may want to make sure that any hair pieces and jewelry are taken home for you. Note that family members will be the best people to delegate all these tasks.
    • Gift Opening. After your wedding celebration is performed, now it is time to open all the gifts you and your spouse have received. Gift opening is one of the most honorable traditions in many countries. You can follow this tradition and start opening gifts on the second day (or first night) of your marriage.
    • Send "Thank You" Notes. Take time to send handwritten thank you cards to everyone you’ve received wedding gifts and greetings from. Sending "thank you" notes is the matter of courtesy and should be done as soon as possible. When writing your notes, use your imagination and do not create one template letter for everyone. In your letter, thank each person for the gift he/she presented. You may tell how you are going to use that gift.
    • Honeymoon. It is recommended to plan your honeymoon before your wedding party is started. After you are married, you should have your travel clothes ready and your bags packed, so you will not waste valuable time on getting yourself prepared for travelling. You may ask your friend to deliver your bags and clothes to the departure point, or at least hire a person who will arrange these matters on time. Make sure your passport, tickets, and carry-on items are available.
    • Party Ideas. After your honeymoon is over, you can arrange an "after wedding" party and invite your friends and family members. Such a party is like a shower that lets share your positive impressions after the honeymoon. Be sure of sending invitations for the party in advance. You may choose how to organize such a party – there is no special pattern. It can be a barbeque party, dinner at a restaurant, or anything else.
  2. Employment, Legal Matters and Financial Considerations.
    • Change Name and Address. If you are going to change your name after your marriage, you will need to notify the social security department in order to get a new social security card. Also you will need to change your name in your insurance policies, driving license, credit cards, and bank accounts. Do not forget to change your address if applicable. Making a to do list will help you track and manage all necessary changes you need to make.
    • Employer Notification. No matter whether you change your name or/and residential address, you need to notify your employer of your new marital status, because the employer will need to make necessary adjustments, such as editing information in your work profile, adding your spouse to the health insurance, and changing beneficiary designation on retirement. Also request the HR department of your organization for details about what needs to be updated in your personnel records.
    • Legal Matters. After you get married, you may want to settle legal matters, such as designating your spouse as beneficiary on financial and insurance-related accounts. Before making any step, it is better to get consultation with your lawyer in order to ensure both you and your spouse are carrying the ideal amount of life insurance. Also your lawyer can give you insight into the best plan for your individual situation. As you start your new life together, basic legal advice dedicated specifically to newlyweds will help you answer most of your legal questions.
    • Financial Considerations. Your marriage will bring a new set of financial considerations. First of all, you need to decide whether you want to keep your bank accounts separate, merged, or a combination of both. Also you need to consider if you want to file your taxes jointly or separately. To achieve the best concern for your finances, you can consult with an accountant or financial adviser who will help you plan the best sale strategies to fit your financial goals, considering your new marital status.
