  TESTIMONIALS
"...This is an excellent program. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to this when researching for task management programs. Very low learning curv, quite flexible, and the price is right. Tried at least 20 other programs, either too complicated, too expensive, or poor documentation..."

  1. Preparation
    • Health. When choosing a puppy, make sure it is clean and appears healthy so that it is active, with bright eyes, and has a good skin and coat. Also ask the dog seller for a worming schedule to make sure the dog has been checked for worms as required. There should be vaccination marks (or a separately attached vaccination schedule sheet) in the worming schedule.
    • Early Socialization. It is highly important to your new dog to be socialized, so the dog becomes friendly and loves playing and communicating with you and your family members. Beware of a very timid puppy, because then most likely you will have to stint the dog in everything concerning communication with other dogs and people. A friendly puppy will make your life more exciting.
    • Breed. Ask the dog seller for a studbook allowing you to answer questions about the dog’s birth. You can get acquainted with the dog breeder who raised your future puppy. Note that generally it is recommended purchasing dogs (and other pets) from professional breeders, not in pet shops which are commercially motivated. While talking to your dog’s breeder, you can ask about good and bad characteristics of the dog, its natural habits and behavioral manner, training methods, potential illnesses, etc. – all this information will help you treat and foster your puppy better.
    • Dog Paperwork. Being a dog buyer, you should receive a formal contract (signed by both you and the dog breeder) including an insurance policy and a pedigree. Note that in the contract there should be stated whether the puppy has been spayed or neutered. The contract price is likely to be higher if your new dog has been spayed/neutered.
  2. Your Responsibilities.
    • Making a long term commitment. From the moment you have purchased a new dog, be ready to make a long term commitment for this dog. Your decision to purchase the dog is serious so you should recognize all the importance of further commitment to the health, care, training, and love of this dog. A dozen years or more are to be spent on raising and fostering your puppy and it is your high responsibility to do everything required for keeping the dog healthy. If you have doubts that you are not ready to change your current lifestyle, do not purchase a puppy; otherwise, you are likely to hurt the dog and make your life and the dog’s life unhappy.
    • Adopting. Purchasing a puppy is like adopting a child. If you are feeling the way like adopting a child, then be sure you can safely purchase a dog. You are ready to take great responsibilities for growing and fostering it.
    • Reading a general dog book. It is highly recommended purchasing and reading a basic dog book that provides general information, such as dog training tips, health and nutrition.
    • Training schedule. By reading dog books, you can learn how to train your pet and develop training schedules. Alternatively, you can take your new puppy to a dog school where professional dog trainers and cynologists will teach your lovely puppy.
  3. Supplies Checklist.
    • Collar and Leash. Sizes and styles of these dog accessories come in a great variety. You should choose a collar which is adjustable so that you can resize it when your dog grows up. Leashes come in a few basic lengths. A usual six-foot leash is required for obedience purposes. If you want to give your dog more "freedom", you can acquire retractable leashes that allow the dog to explore nearby objects.
    • ID Tag (Identification Tag). It is highly recommended attaching metal or plastic ID tags (with your puppy’s name and your contact info) to the dog’s collar, so in case your puppy is lost, people who find your dog can contact you.
    • Dog Toys. Every puppy likes playing, so you need to provide your dog with plenty of toys. A variety of dog toys can be found in stores. Dog toys allow your home pet to play various games, train its teeth, reaction, defense and attacking skills, etc. However, before making a purchase, make sure each specific toy is quite applicable and safe to your puppy considering the dog’s age and material of the toy. Veterinarians also suggest purchasing toys considering training schedules and schedules.
    • Water and Food. Note that dogs like drinking a lot, so be ready to store plenty of water in your house. Veterinarians recommend using both metal and ceramic bowls to store fresh water. Food can be stored in plastic packages. You should replenish your dog stock regularly and in accordance with your feeding schedule.
    • Chewing raw bones. Certainly your puppy needs to chew something, and raw bones will be very helpful. Chewing raw bones helps your dog to train its teeth and strengthen its mouth mussels.
    • Dog bed. Everyone needs a comfortable place for sleeping, so does you dog. A nice big bed for your puppy is required. If you keep you dog outside the house, you can build a comfortable kennel.
    • Stain and odor remover. Among other accessories, stain and odor remover is highly required, especially if you want your house to be always clean. Go to the nearest supermarket and acquire a bottle of enzyme cleaner.
