  TESTIMONIALS
"...This is an excellent program. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to this when researching for task management programs. Very low learning curv, quite flexible, and the price is right. Tried at least 20 other programs, either too complicated, too expensive, or poor documentation..."

  1. Activities: Family.
    • Develop an action plan. First of all, you need to elaborate a safety plan that describes immediate steps in case of any emergency (bad road conditions, snowdrifts, ice-covered ground, snowstorm, blizzard etc.). Use task management software to develop your plan and create worksheets.
    • Set reminder for key tasks in your plan to remember about important and necessary activities.
    • Use Internet to find and investigate snow-closure guidelines for employees, schools and daycare centers. This will help you make your plan more complete.
    • Share copies of the plan. Once created, the plan should be shared between members of your family. Make sure every person understands the plan, is familiar with precautions and knows what immediate steps to take in case of emergency.
    • Keep emergency phone numbers handy.
    • Consider providing cell phones for all members of your family because a cell phone is critical equipment that can save life.
    • Keep schedules for bus, train and subway handy so your family members will know which routes they can use to get home in case they cannot drive a car.
  2. Guidelines: Pets.
    • Keep your dog or cat indoor during the winter season (when it’s really cold). To follow this advice, you should take care of your pet’s residence in your house, so go to the nearest supermarket and purchase a carpet for your dog/cat.
    • Make sure your pet wears a special collar with an identification tag that has the pet’s name and your contact info). Then in case your dog/cat is lost, those people who find the pet will know how to contact you to return your pet faster.
    • If sidewalks around your house have been treated with de-icing chemicals, you should wash your pet’s paws after you have walked the pet on these sidewalks.
    • As the winter season is cold, your pet requires more food to eat, so make sure your dog/cat has additional food for extra energy.
    • Make sure the pet has access to clean and fresh water.
  3. Rules: Faucets and Pipes.
    • Use a visible tag to mark your main water valve.
    • Make sure the valve is operable.
    • Drain standing water from outside pipes. Then turn off outside water lines.
    • Use a special electric heat tape to wrap any pipes that have been frozen last winter.
    • Keep names and contact info of trusted plumbers and electricians handy.
    • In case your house is unheated for a long-time period, it’s recommended to drain water pipes and turn off the main water valve. Also don’t forger to turn off the water heater.
    • Wrap outdoor faucets and pipes with a special frost-resistant insulating material.
    • In case one of the water pipes in your house is frozen, you can wrap it with a piece of fabric and then pour hot water over the fabric until the frozen pipe thaws and water starts flowing.
    • In case a pipe is broken, you should close the main water valve and call a plumber. If you feel you can remove the breach, you can use a pipe repair kit purchased in the nearest hardware store.
  4. Guidelines: Vehicles.
    • Talk to your car mechanic to get advice on preparing your car for the winter season and find out what basic requirements you should follow to drive safely.
    • Go to the nearest automotive supply store and look for products specifically designed to help vehicles cope with winter driving conditions.
    • Check your car’s antifreeze and fluid levels.
    • Check your car’s oil level.
    • Install snow tires for more traction in slippery weather once the snow....
